Colonial Village Shopping Center Revitalization

When L&L closed on Mt. Hope, our neighbors, including many seniors, lost a convenient source of fresh food and groceries. We also lost another tenant in what was once a thriving commercial center, and we know vacant commercial areas adversely affect community perception of surrounding neighborhoods.
The South Lansing Community Development Association (SLCDA), with funding from the Power of We Consortium, is creating a recruitment/business analysis package to attract desired and appropriate tenants to the shopping center. The recruitment package highlights South West Lansing’s offerings and potential and analysis includes economic and demographic data, survey data, and local business data collected and analyzed by SLCDA and community volunteers.
The focus is to bring together local stakeholders in order to create a truly community-driven development project that can tackle food access issues, increase community pride, and improve the vitality of the Colonial Village commercial area.
