Good Food Talks

Do you learn better by doing? Need a healthy, fun night out?  Check out SLCDA's Good Food Talks. Good Food Talks are workshops to help South Lansing residents learn about better nutrition through great tasting, healthy foods. Don't have time to add another event to your calendar? Why not incorporate Good Food Talks into a meeting you already attend? Health Initiatives Coordinator, Rita O'Brien, will cater topics to the needs and interests of participants and bring the workshops to you! Neighborhood meetings, senior activities, parenting groups, after-school programs, scouts, etc.

To schedule a series of workshops or host a Good Food Talk at your next meeting, call SLCDA today

Youth Nutrition

Studies show, children are more likely to eat food that they helped pick out, prepare, and/or serve.  SLCDA staff organize and conduct nutrition programs at Wexford Montessori Magnet School and the Southside Community Center to help children recognize and prefer fruits and vegetables by gardening and cooking with them.

Check out these easy child friendly healthy recipes that will enable you to incorporate more fruits and vegetables in your family's everyday meals at home.   We encourage you to cook with your family at least one day a week; not only does it promote precious family time, but it also allows you to pass along cooking skills and healthy eating habits.
